That was TANZtheater INTERNATIONAL 2014

The 29th edition of TANZtheater INTERNATIONAL closed with a record result: the festival’s events from 4 to 13 September 2014 were attended by some 99% capacity audiences.
A congenial festival mood accompanied this year’s events. As ever, the programme was highly varied, offering a total of twelve contemporary dance productions, including four German premieres and three world premieres.

For some years now, exploring aspects of life in urban society has been one of the festival’s main themes. A central topic in 2014 was the boundary between the private and the public realm. This was considered in particular by choreographers from Israel. Other artists came from France, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.

Our tried-and-tested concept of presenting established ensembles alongside lesser known newcomers was retained in 2014. It was the first appearance in Hanover for most of the choreographers participating in this year’s festival while two of the featured ensembles were previous guests of TANZtheater INTERNATIONAL who returned to present their current works.
