The Hanover state ballet and TANZtheater INTERNATIONAL festival offer three emerging choreographers a temporary artistic home: the residency programme “Thing Big”. For this year’s seventh edition, the jury – Hanover ballet director Marco Goecke, festival director Christiane Winter and guest juror Prof. Dr. Gerald Siegmund, dance and theatre expert of Gießen University – selected Portugal-born, Hamburg-based Anibal dos Santos, Gizem Aksu of Turkey, and Eduardo Vallejo Pinto of Spain from some 130 applicants to create ensemble works to be staged in Hanover. In this collaborative project, the journey is (also) the reward: The young choreographers-in-residence are provided with four weeks intensive rehearsal time in the Hanover state ballet’s studios and a specially selected eight-person ensemble to develop their choreographies. The results can now be experienced in a triple bill – featuring three diverse, adventurous pieces by fresh faces of choreography
