Ginevra Panzetti / Enrico Ticconi (DE/IT)

Turin-born, Berlin-based choreographers Ginevra Panzetti and Enrico Ticconi create installations, videos and performances that have been causing a stir in both Germany and Italy and earned them invitations to leading platforms for contemporary dance. Their work “Harleking” is a highly topical piece about power relations. Lighthearted yet delving deep into the substance of politics and society, it uses the eponymous Commedia Dell’Arte figure as a multifaceted vehicle for the choreographers’ reflections: In the character of Harlequin, the task of serving the public collides with a ruthless hunger for power. And as the title infers, even the lowly entertainer can rise to become king if he plays his cards right. For this piece, Panzetti and Ticconi have found a striking, technically precise movement language that conveys lightness with a barely concealed, tongue-in-cheek, sense of peril.
